A Vision Reimagined

What began as a simple "Designer’s Touch Package" prize evolved into a comprehensive knock-down rebuild project. After a devastating storm in February 2020, a fallen tree left Ren and Roxy's newly renovated home uninhabitable, forcing them to face not only the emotional aftermath but also stringent new council regulations. In collaboration with the clients, we reimagined their dream home, crafting a bespoke design that would not only meet but exceed their expectations.

Design with Purpose

Upperroom House is a testament to thoughtful design and strategic planning. The primary living spaces are elevated to the first floor, ensuring the home remains above the flood zone while immersing the residents in the surrounding treetop canopy. This elevated position inspired the name "Upperroom House," and the design capitalises on the location with large windows that flood the interior with natural light and offer uninterrupted views of the lush landscape to the south.

Crafting a Home Above the Flood Zone

The design of Upperroom House features a spacious, open-plan living wing that encourages flow and connection, with an emphasis on bringing the outdoors in. The thoughtful placement of windows and living spaces ensures that the home remains connected to its environment while offering a sanctuary from the elements.

Overcoming Adversity with Creativity

Despite the constraints of a tight budget, Roxy embraced the challenge as an owner-builder, successfully bringing this double-storey home to life. Her determination, coupled with our meticulous design process, allowed us to deliver a home that is both beautiful and resilient.
